It is believed the drone was just a few hundred feet below the plane when it was only a few miles from the runway at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reportedly announced.

The crew was able to land safely without incident, and the FAA stated that this is not the first time drones have been seen in that area south of BWI.

Officials say that the FAA reportedly alerted the Anne Arundel County Police Department of the drone and is investigating the incident.
